Term paper format: Step by step

Once you have written a term paper, you may feel confused about how to start its formatting. The following points will help you to do this consecutively and simply.

Title page format

There is a number of formats for the term papers, specifically – for their title pages. The variants are:

  • The subject in the left upper corner, name of the work in the middle of the page, and your name and date in the bottom of the page
  • Page header, running head, name of the paper, your name (from the top to the bottom)
  • Your name, name of your instructor and name of subject in the upper left corner of the page; name of the paper in the middle, date in the bottom of the page

Abstract format

Your abstract should be placed right on the next page after the title page. It should contain the key points of the term paper in about 100-120 words.

Body format

  • The most frequently used fonts in the term paper format are: Times New Roman, Arial, Courier. The size of the font is usually 10-12 pt.
  • Doublespace

Reference list format

You can choose among APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard citation styles.
