Mass Murder Reduction in Georgia

Massive shooting in Georgia is causing concern among citizens. According to reports, in a most recent case, 14 people were murdered, and 21 were injured (Haner et al., 2019). According to a GVP University analysis, states with weak gun restrictions experienced 5% more mass shootings and 55% more shooting fatalities than those with strong gun laws (Haner et al., 2019). According to the report, roughly 3000 people died, and 10,000 people were physically injured due to mass shootings between 2013 and 2019 (Haner et al., 2019). Assault weapons have made mass shootings more lethal (Haner et al., 2019). As a result, preventing mass shootings requires the establishment of gun restrictions, such as limiting the number of persons who own firearms. In terms of NRA actions, there should be implemented additional mental health control procedures to decrease risks.

Schools in Georgia have been reported to be under threat. As a result, educational systems have responded to such characteristics by requiring police officers in schools.(Haner et al., 2019). A mass shooting in a school accounts for 20% of all recorded instances each year (Haner et al., 2019). Further data revealed that such shootings resulted from young persons acquiring firearms. Consequently, there is a need to keep guns away from young people by guaranteeing safe storage and imposing age restrictions on firearm purchases.

Many situations have been reported in which people with guns endanger the public. Annual reports suggest that 13% of mass shootings result from carelessness (Haner et al., 2019). States that have imposed limitations on people who own licensed firearms have minimized mass shooting (Haner et al., 2019). Besides, the procedure of licensing firearms should be extended with additional checking programs (Snow, 2020). All this would contribute to reducing of mass shooting cases.
