Introduction
Social media is evolving at a tremendous rate, adding more functionality to its applications. There are now hundreds of different methods of conducting social life in addition to direct human communication. One of the pioneers of the method of virtual communication can be considered a program, MySpace, which demonstrated the possibility of the Internet and how the different mechanics of the social sphere affect everyone’s life.
As the project evolved, large studios noticed the propensity of teens and beyond to communicate through the medium of the Internet, thereby marking the development of social media. Each resource brought new and unique features that distinguished it from its competitors and, by this, attracted the attention of potential users. Now, one can notice that despite the decrease in the number of such applications, their quality begins to dominate, thus attracting more users. Let’s consider the work of social networks, their impact on people’s lives, and how effective virtual communication is.
Main Body
To begin with, one must ask about the necessity of such a phenomenon as social interaction between human beings. Social communication is vital because human beings are social beings who need to be surrounded by their own kind. This formation of groups within other social spheres generates the need for communication between its members. This mode of interaction has existed since the emergence of humankind, and methods of improving it are in constant development (Alwin et al., 2018). One of these has been the introduction of social media into people’s lives. With the help of applications for various devices, people can communicate around one or more topics, have an opportunity for self-expression, and make friends with other people. The question of relationship relates more to the people themselves and their attitude to new technologies than to the development of social networks. This opens up a wide range of functionality for others, giving them the chance to socialize regardless of distance and age, removing prejudices and the fundamental disadvantages of socialization.
Humans are social creatures, so apps like Twitter or Telegram are designed to cover communication needs. At this time, they meet almost all people’s requirements by providing various services. The most popular services for communication are called messengers. With their help, people can exchange different types of messages, such as text, video, and audio notifications, as well as video chat calls (Costanza-Chock, 2018). This opens up a wide range of opportunities for interaction since distance does not play a significant role. Most places have Internet access, so one can easily communicate with others no matter how far away the person is or what their options are (Alwin et al., 2018). This feature is often used not only for friendly communication but also for other purposes, such as marketing. However, one of the most popular methods of using messengers is to meet other people in order to create relationships, both friendly and creating a relationship.
People are very ambivalent about this kind of method. It is essential to consider that this type of dating has a number of positive and negative features. Speaking of the positive side, in addition to taking into account the previously mentioned lack of distance influence, there is also an equally important point, namely the ease of finding a person. For many, this feature becomes a key, as any person can be found according to a list of interests, which reduces the chance of making a mistake when choosing a companion or a future partner (Alwin et al., 2018). In addition, communication via messengers minimizes the need to get out of your comfort zone. As this technology develops, there is no desire to do uncomfortable things, which for many can be leaving home, preferring the comfort of home to go to an institution.
On the other hand, speaking of such communication, it is worth noting that it cannot be called reliable about constant. People who use only the method of correspondence in social networks cannot count on a full-fledged friendship or love relationship because this also requires physical contact. For the development of a relationship, it is crucial to consider many other factors besides a standard set of interests. These may be the image created not on the Internet, but in real life, the person’s attitude towards the other topics, as well as his ambition, which also affects the relationship and may be different from those used in correspondence. The Internet, in addition to the pleasant things it brings every day, is also full of negative consequences (Qiao, 2019). It is generally believed that a person on the World Wide Web is often not who they claim to be and has the ability to change their mind without the possibility of being caught in it. Any relationship is built on a mutual understanding of trust, and these things cannot be given without physical contact.
Social networks are an indispensable aid in many ways that concern various spheres, in addition to creating relationships and friendships. They are now also actively used for learning and sharing helpful information. Although this was not the original purpose for their creation, they have proven to be suitable for other equally important goals. Many people are still trying to build meaningful relationships at great distances and without the opportunity for physical contact. In many respects, the duration and strength of such interaction depend on the personal qualities of the interlocutors and how they perceive each other’s plans. There are people for whom distance is no barrier because the interlocutor is perfectly matched in terms of tastes and preferences, which makes it unique. Such an attitude creates a mental bond that is difficult to destroy by any of the methods, which only strengthens the relationship of the interlocutors.
However, no matter how strong it is, it still requires constant contact and a good level of interaction to develop further, which makes social networks a lousy place to strengthen relationships. However, it is worth noting that this often also depends on the intentions of people or the distance between them. If the promise of correspondence is diluted with periodic meetings, it can be called a working option and an excellent opportunity to develop any relationship. It is impossible to say with certainty to what extent communication with the use of social networks is justified and can lead to strong relationships in the future because it largely depends on circumstances and many other nuances that directly affect the whole situation.
Conclusion
It is evident that social networks can help in finding a partner or a second half, but the subsequent communication must also continue in real life. This affects their duration and the seriousness of their intentions, which is vital in any social interaction. Thus, the conclusion is that social interaction depends on a large number of factors. It is impossible to know for certain what this or that communication will lead to since the situations in which people find themselves and their mutual understanding are different. Therefore, it is worth considering many factors in answering this question and being aware of the importance of the decisions people make.
